School Holiday Workshops

Wollongong Art Gallery provides workshops and activities for children aged 5 - 14 years during school holidays in January, July and October. Artist-run activities include experimentation and investigation of various media in a casual and fun environment.  

These workshops change regularly and sell out quickly, so book online early.​

TUESDAY 13 APRIL
LITTLE MONSTERS (mixed media) for 5-8 year olds 

Skye Zaracostas – artist and educator Design your little monster and build it out of toilet rolls. Children will learn drawing, painting and cardboard building techniques in this fun workshop. 10am – 12 noon $22 + booking fee

CONTINUOUS LINE PORTRAITS (drawing) for 5-8 year olds 

Skye Zaracostas – artist and educator
 Create expressive and crazy portraits by using the continuous line technique. Add colour and pattern to these fun portraits.

SELF PORTRAITS (drawing) for 9-14 year olds

FULL DAY WORKSHOP Students must bring their own morning tea and lunch
Learn about portraiture by looking at portrait examples in our Collection exhibition ‘Every Body’. Students will have fun by learning how to draw blindfolded and with a continuous line. Then will create their own self portrait by learning specific skills such as face proportions and shading.
10am – 3pm $55 + booking fee

THURSDAY 15 APRIL
EGG CARTON ANIMALS (mixed media) for 9-14 year olds
Megan Langlands – artist and educator

FULL DAY WORKSHOP  Students must bring their own morning tea and lunch 
Create a 3D animal wall art piece by using cardboard, paint and egg cartons. Students will learn how to sculpt using cardboard and papier-mâché. Animal heads will be mounted onto cardboard base, ready to hang on your wall at home.
10am – 3pm $55 + booking fee

CIRCUS ALL-SORTS DEMONSTRATION PERFORMANCE AND WORKSHOP WITH EMMA (circus performance) for 5-10 year olds

 A fun packed circus workshop. Try your hand at a variety of circus skills including hula hoops, juggling, spinning plates, devils sticks, diabolo and more.

​​A free fun tour through the Gallery designed for 3 - 5 year olds. Children will explore art works through story-telling, art making, songs and games with the Junior Art Trail team. 

When: Second Friday of every month, 10.00am-10.45am
Dates:  11 September, 9 October, 13 November & 11 December 2020
​Bookings essential: places limited to 12 children aged 3 - 5 years and their carers.
Morning Tea: 10.45am-11.15am. This is not provided - please bring your own packed morning tea to have in the Gallery at the end of the tour.
