An exhibition celebrating Australian television of the 20th century from its inception in 1956 to 1999.   Prior to the digital age of flat screens, portable devices and on-demand viewing, television in Australia was from a simpler, yet formative era in our popular culture history. We remember the hit shows and household names that kept us entertained as well as some of the flops and forgotten gems.

Featuring costumes, props, footage, production stills, documentation and other memorabilia, The Box in the Corner covers a range of genres including kids, comedy and variety to soap opera, mini-series, game shows and more and highlights the ways in which television moved beyond the screen to permeate the lives of viewers and influence our national discourse.
